Have forum settings recently changed?

For the past few weeks I've been experiencing frustrating problems with the forum not marking as read any posts/threads I read and the "view first unread" function no longer works!
I used to rely on both these features to navigate the boards via my subscribed threads list in UserCP but now it's impossible
