Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2nd July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning BB & all who cross/follow
Fish fed, hanging baskets have been watered (2 of them only get wet in torrential rain as they are partly under cover)& packups made
Hubbys still in bed as he's on lates 'til Aug/Sept, he's working every Saturday 'til then too & also working next 13 days as he's needed next Sunday to supervise external staff.
I'm hoping for a quieter week workwise this week, I'm going out with my DD's tonight as it was DD's b'day yesterday. The fosterchildren had bought her gifts with their pocket money & wrapped them.
Time I got a wiggle on, have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning x
Still reading but not much to report in the way of Old Style.
Bramble - hugs honey x
back from my quilting course which I enjoyed. Need to get busy with organising myself for my holiday to Cornwall on Thursday:T
Really tempted to buy a new sewing machine as mine is very old. Any ideas of make suitable for quilting?
Hugs and love xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good Morning all, well Monday morning again ,don't the weeks just seem to fly by just lately.Plus its a new month.I have to go to the shops this morning after the school run.First shop of the month and I'm going to have a shufti around Aldi's for a change as I haven't a great deal to get.Hopefully I can save a few more pennies towards next months holiday. Then back to DDs to let my DDs dogs out and to see how my DGS Ben enjoyed his 'prom'He looked so smart when he went out last night.cue one very proud Granny and one slightly tearful Mum saying 'Oh isn't he gorgeous' .I think we thoroughly embarrassed the poor lad
:)
Right lots to do so onwards and upwards .
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Raining again here this morning, started in the night as very wet underfoot too. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
The funeral went off very well and there was a lot more people in the church than we expected, old friends and work colleagues etc, that we didn't know would attend, so was good to see that people wanted to pay their respects. Just now supporting my parents with getting her affairs sorted and trying to persuade them they should take a break.
Had a lovely weekend, although very blustery, boys entered the fishing competition and both did well with DS1 winning and DS2 coming third - they caught some lovely fish and both enjoyed themselves. Have, returned home as normal with a bag full of dirty washing, did manage to get some dry on the line yesterday evening - think it's going to have to go in the TD today.
Back to work today for me, have loads of people off, and it's likely to be busy as it's the start of the month, and register of electors letters have gone out and loads of people always come in either not understanding what they need to do or to say that they don't want to vote anyway - we then have to advise them they have to complete the form and return it even if they dont' want to vote - can be very difficult to get people to understand that!
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Quick check in as I'm off to catch the ferry to the mainland for my annual dentist visit. I've had the same dentist for 35 years so will continue to travel (expensively) until he retires.
Hope you all had a good weekend and are raring to get back to work - ha ha ha ha ha.
I'll try to catch up this evening when I get back. Goodness knows what, or when, we'll be eating today and nothing OS going on so nothing of interest to report. Have a good day and fingers crossed that nothing bad happens to anyone.

Morning everyone,
Bramble hugs to you.
nmlc glad that it went well.
Hester hope that you have a better week.
Went to see my mum yesterday. She was a lot brighter than I had expected but obviously in pain. She goes back to the hospital today to see if it needs pinning or she just gets a permanent cast on it.
LW her wheelchair is a lightweight one with big wheels at the back, she can move herself around a little in it but needs my dad to push her most of the time.
Whole family went to a lovely party on Saturday night to celebrate the 18th birthday of a friends son. OH, DD2 and I returned home about 9 30 but DS rolled in after midnight!
Tea tonight is stirfry made with LO roast pork.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all
BB yes I had thought about a Westie-they always seem to have a sense of humour.
Well wet here again, just hope it clears up like it did yesterday as I have some washing to do. OH is still thinking about giving in and getting a tumble dryer.
Things to do today-prepare for an old friends visit tomorrow, collect some new bedding I ordered in the M&S sale, put friend on our little car's insurance and lend it to them as theirs has died, and go to Asd* to take part in the foodbank collection. People are usually very generous. Hope the rain stops.
Tea is chicken curry using up yesterday's chicken. I prefer chicken curry made with cooked chicken and I will put peppers and mushrooms in it. There is apple crumble left and DH hasn't started the lemon drizzle cake yet.....
Hugs and kind thoughts to all who would like them.
Have a good day all.

Put vac round, dust, got to take my mum to dentist as parking is a nightmare so may have to drop her off and drive round for a bit.
BM needs to go on, washing to hang up, more to go on. Gosh my life is exciting
No idea about tea, not looked at planner yet.
Molly I've not quilted but glad you enjoyed it. Can't advise on sewing machine, what little bit of sewing I do is on my mums old Frister and Rossman, it's over 30 years old.
