    hey

can't really comment too mcuh more than the other posters have, the best advice is to make a meal plan and work out what ingredients you need before you go, and stick only to that. will be healthier and cheaper.

the only probelm i have with your list is value eggs  i know you may be trying to money save but the ethical implications of these are horrendous. oh and do you have any kind of local fruit and veg shops or butchers? when you are buying raw ingredients they can be cheaper.

nice use of the 'scratch and ding' section with the bashed box of washing powder :D

Dont worry too much about your shopping list, everyone has to learn sometime and you obviously know that it was wrong as you posted it here.
If you make a list of everything you have in the fridge/freezer/cupboard and post it on here, i'm sure me and others on here will help you out and get the most meals out of what you have got.

Definitely meal plan, write a list of what you need before you go shopping.

If you realise you forgot one thing then see how long you can survive without it (saves buying extra impulse buys when you go shopping again).

I used to shop like that, long lists of things that made me go "ooh that sounds nice". Cost me a fortune. Now I meal plan, write a list and try and only shop once a week if at all possible (and never take OH or the kids with me) and my shopping bill is now less than half what it was ;)

example of a meal plan and shopping list i use for 4 kids 2 adults.
    MEAL PLAN 1
    1-egg chips beans
    2-Sheperds pie,yorkshires and veg
    3-sausage and mash and veg
4-Hm meatballs pasta and hm garlic bread
5-Toad in the hole and veg.
    6-chicken dinner
    7-chicken dinner

    chickens x 2=£5
    Potatoes tescos large value-£1.79
    Stuffing mix x 2 =80p
    Eggs x 12=67p
    beans x 2=35p
large pack of mince x 2=£2.30
    24 sausage lidl frozen x 2=£3.60
    bread x 4= £1 (cheapest)
    sweetcorn x 2=40p
    tinned garden peas x 2=40p
    milk x 8 pint=2.20
    MUSROOMS-80P
    £19.31

Then i spend around another £20 on essentials eg milk, bread, cereal, juice tea, coffee.
Treats are made from what i have in storecupboard and are limited to crisps with pack lunches only, hm cakes buns ect and fruit.
I buy lots of cheap soups and have that with hm bread for snacks/supper.
Once a month i spend slightly more stocking up on spices, cheese, flour, washing powder ect.

It does take a while to get your head round meal planning and using a strick shopping list but you can do it, and it is a case of learning from your mistakes.
Good luck let us know how you get on.Donna
