Cash donation - is this cash advance?

Hi! Like a lot of people, probably, I was watching Comic Relief on Friday, and went to the website to make a small donation with my credit card.

Afterwards, I wondered if that counts as a cash advance on the card, or is it treated like a purchase?

I don't know the answer to the question, but was wondering the same whilst watching comic relief. If it does apply to the card as a cash advance i would call up the provider and ask them to refund the cash advance fee as its for charity, it has to be worth a try.

Or if they wont refund the fee, appeal to their better nature (:)) and ask them to make a donation of same amount to comic relief

I don't see how it would count as a cash advance as you are paying an organisation.

Well, Egg give following definition of a Cash Advance:
"Cash Advance means obtaining cash, foreign currency, travellers' cheques and postal orders, and gambling, using a Card or the Card number."
So, assuming all card issuers work on the same basis, you won't have a problem with making a credit card charitable donation.
