Retailer Not Interested!!

I got one of those lovely tickets from UKCPS and in line with advice on these and other forums have ignored them (although not easy as they are clearly designed to intimidate).
The other advice I took was to write to the retailer where I was shopping and ask them what they were doing about the bully-boy tactics of customers havng to run the gauntlet in order to get into their store. I didn't expect much by way of relpy and they certainly didn't disappoint e.g. it's nothing to do with us and there are signs up saying that you will be fined if not parked correctly. Now apart from the letter been a complete waste of space, does anyone have any other advice on going back to the retailer to ratchet up my argument??

The letter was far from a waste of time, and the response is interesting, and incredibly useful as it shows the stores lack of knowledge on who/what they have got controling their car park.
In Detail...
"Its nothing to do with us" wrong, they are jointly liable for the actions of their agents, in this case the parking company. Should you wish to put a claim in for harrasment or any other such thing they ( Comet ) can be held liable - you should reply and remid them that they are responsable for the actions of thier agents see here http://www.appealnow.com/Privately-Clamped-Driver-Wins-Landmark-Court-Decision/
"you will be fined if not parked correctly" does it realy say that? in a letter? fined? oh dear, looks like theyve shot themselves in the foot a private company can not issue fines or penaltys see here

all in all a good reply, and one that gives you plenty of amunition should you wish to take things further, once the threats start arriving you should tell comet that as they are liable for the actions of their agents, you may be holding them to account under the protection from harrasment act if these letters do not stop, anything other than an apology from them for these letters will be deemed as harrasment and treated accordingly. From the Plain Language Commission:

Assuming of course comet hired them, and aren't merely renting the premises with parking supplied.0

In that case, sue them for harassment.
Hate Comet! They are a shockingly bad company IMHO with zero customer service ethic. Nearly sued them myself over a piece of tin they described as a 'washing machine' but in the end I let it go to the scrap heap and that was that.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Find out the landowner.
Complaints to Savills have led to UKCPS being kicked off land in the past.0 -

Fully agree, I wouldn't even go to them to buy batteries!
OP - spread the word to friends and family, particularly about that retail park and Comet's reply.0 -
what the letter actually said from the retailer was:
i am sorry to read of the problem you have experienced after a recent visit toour store.
I can fully appreciate your frustration, however I would like to explain that the company which operates the retail site is not employed by Comet.
The management agency which is responsible for the running of the retail area employs the parking services company to moniter the site. This is to ensure that genuine store customers may park the vehciles in the allotted spaces.
The monitoring may inlcude the processing of fines or clamping, shoul the terms and conditions of parking be broken; this will inlcude car owners leaving their vehicles in the car park to undertake business elsewhere.
I have spoken to the store with regards to the parking at the store and signs are visable around the car park to advice customers if they leave the car park then a penalty will be issues.
I trust that you find this infromation of assistance.
The problem with the above isthat we never left the shop to go anywhere else - instead we were in the storefor 40 minutes and then came out after one of the comet staff told us that ourvan was being filmed. The vehicle we was driving went over the yellow linebecause it was a van (not HGV).
Further advice would be welcome as we intend taking these !!!!!!s on as well as the parking agent who is UKCPS.0 -
All line marking on private property are just graffiti. They have no basis in law. Very naughty of Comet for calling them "fines".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Thanks for this, but do you know what the specific law is so I can quote it in our letter back to comment?0
