Washer Drier Broken - repairs feasable?

Hi,
I've got a Candy Washer Drier (CMD 146), probably about 3 years old.
It works fine so long as you put it on a regular wash.
But if you try and use it as a drier, or ask it to do an extra spin cycle, then it fills up with water, heats it up and stops, leaving you with some wet but hot clothes.
Any ideas if this is likely to be an economic repair? Or anyone in the know got any suggestions for what might be wrong / what to check / DIY repair?
It must be some kind of electrical fault. A new main PCB is £38 on ebay.
Many thanks.
