Hi, I would really like a dishwasher, we have a space for one with a socket, would we need to get a plumber to plumb it in. Can't see any spare outlet on waste under sink.

It would need a cold water connection and waste out which could be added as an extension to the sink waste.
If could be DIY'd if you have someone with the few tools that are required. Otherwise a plumber would be able to do it fairly cheaply. Get some quotes.
Hopefully the space isn't too far from the sink.
Bung everything in the DW and when it's full, put it on. Then empty when finished. Lovely and no washing up hanging around!0 -
Thanks for that, the space is right next to the sink. Newish build, left space for dishwasher but no plumbing.0

I have had a dishwasher for years, wouldnt be without it.
If i had only one choice of a washer or dishwasher I would choose the dishwasher every time. I can take the washing to the launderette, lol
Christmas dinner, 5 minutes later everything, but everything is loaded in there,
Relax..............make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Where is your washing machine in relation to this space?
Our dishwasher sits between washing machine and sink in our utility.
We put a "Y" splitter on the cold pipe pipe that fed the washing machine, to give an extra feed to the dishwasher and then fitted a waste inlet into the sink trap for the waste water.
The waste inlet int the under sink trap was effectively an extension pipe with a spigot that was simply inserted into the pipework by unscrewing a couple of joints.
We did have to put an extra length cold feed pipe on the dishwasher as we had bumped it along one space."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

If it's next to the sink, then plumbing it in should be very straightforward, as no long supply or waste runs are necessary. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'll second that. My washing machine was out of action for quite a few weeks and I just made a weekly trip to the launderette which was fine. My dishwasher is presently out of action and I really, really miss it.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
As said it should be very easy to do.
If there isn't already a hole in the cabinet for the water and waste to go through you will need to create one (probably with a hole saw or similar).
You would need a wrench or two and the rest is parts, some sort of equal T and an adapter for the waste. Its easy enough to do yourself if you like to DIY otherwise its an hours work for a plumber.0 -
Are you sure? Thanks for that, the space is right next to the sink. Newish build, left space for dishwasher but no plumbing.
Have a good look at the plumbing under the sink. There may be a blue washing machine type tap there.
There may be one or two short capped off spurs (probably the wrong word) on the waste that you could use.
Under our kitchen sink in a 2004 built house there are two spurs on the waste. One for the dishwasher and one spare as the washing machine is in the utility.
If you have those all you need to do is cut two holes for the dishwasher water pipe and waste pipe and connect them up. A quick job.
Edit: I have just reread your OP and you have already checked.
You could replace the under sink waste with one that does have a spare spur for a dishwasher.
Tapping off from the cold water pipe is also quite easy.0 -
If you're DIYing it, you can get self cutting appliance tap kits and self cutting waste kits to make the installation easier.0

Unfortunately they often develop leaks and are a bit of a bodge job.If you're DIYing it, you can get self cutting appliance tap kits and self cutting waste kits to make the installation easier.
Basic "proper" plumbing such as adding a tap and a drain is quite simple and easy to do for most people.
In my opinion anyway. Others will disagree.0
