Oooh Terra Firma - they were the ones we used at the hospital too. About 30dB attenuation I think, enough to muffle sound but not remove it completely. To be honest all ear plugs can only remove so much of the sound as if it is loud enough (greater than 60dB) the sound can bypass the ear canal and be conducted through your bones instead!

    SNR 37, near enough.:)
The highest I found on the market, even looking at PPE specialists sites.
Some sounds seems to go through earplugs regardless, but I'd definitely recommend these, great value for the price.

The wax ones block sounds out better for me, tbh:beer:

I bought some of these from Boots a while ago to block out OH's snoring when I was pregnant.

You can mold them to shape your ear and if they are too big you can easily reduce the wax/silicone to fit your ear. They worked a treat and come in a nice plastic case. They are £4.49 for 3 pairs and they are well worth the money. They don't totally block noise out and I set my smoke alarm off and I could hear that okay, but OH's low pitched rumblings were difficult to hear. When I was in hospital they were a godsend, busy labour ward and lots of noisey little babies, bless 'em.
I tried the foam ones but they were nowhere near as good.

Well I tried the foam, and I tried the wax-type, and couldn't get on with either of them. Went onto the above website and a whole new world opened up :j

Rather than put up with the snoring, we (actually I) decided to put the shoe on the other foot (perhaps not the correct analogy!) and tackle it from the other direction. We - actually he - now has the Nozovent and it's brilliant. This little device has made a complete change and he is now able to breath though his nose, probably 99% less snoring, so 99% more sleep - for both of us.

There are a few little tests to do on the website, to gauge which product would be best, but I/we would completely recommend the Nozovent. I did get some of their own ear plugs, just in case, but haven't needed them. Happy days :j
