I was lucky enough to win a Longines watch worth £2500 according to the main jewelery websites.
were still waiting for the watch but after discussions with the other half we have decided we should sell it and use the money to clear a credit card/ or to decorate the house etc.
I'm just not sure where to sell it and and for what price, ebay seems a bit of a nightmare to sell watches and cant see the local pawn shop paying much for them.
I was thinking about £1300 for it,... but to be honest would take less.
any advice apprecaited.

second hand shop/jeweler may give you a good price with no hassle0

I would look for a decent jewellers who also does 2nd hand, or maybe look at UK watch forums for adverts of companies that buy.
Hopefully it will come with full documents as people are naturally suspicious of new items being sold on.
Personally i would avoid Ebay due to possible scams.
There's possibly also specialist auctions.0 -
How long have you been waiting for the watch? If it is a long time, then maybe you could use that to ask for a cash alternative? Or maybe you could enquire to find out whether that is available anyway? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

My usual rule of thumb for something like this is to sell privately at around 50% of retail (so £1300 is about the right asking price). If you sell to a shop, expect to get around 33% of retail or less.
If it's a ladies watch, I'm afraid that you'd get even less.
Try an ad on Gumtree - and make sure to include good, clear photographs. Also, make sure to include the box, papers, hang tags, etc.

I would find a specialist jewellery site.
You have to consider where people are prepared to buy things as well.
Personally as a buyer I would not spend £1300 on a generalist site like Gumtree or eBay. I might be persuaded to spend it on Amazon, but more likely I would go to a proper shop or to someone who knows their watches/jewellery."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
