Help with a credit owed by a credit card

I had a credit card which I hardly ever used, and I had a credit on there of £14.

Now they wrote to me a good 2 years ago advising me that they were closing the account. I am assuming because I never used it.

However they did not send me a cheque or credit my bank account with the £14. Now once a month a get a credit card statement from them showing the credit and showing I have nothing available to spend and my credit limit is £0 and showing I am £14 in credit.

What I want to know is can I claim this money back plus the interest they have been making on it? I know its only £14 but I am sure over the past few years it would have earned something?!

Any advise?

Regards.

Daniel

No. The account isn't interest-bearing for them to you. It was up to you to arrange the refund as they cannot do this without your express permission. Give them the details and they'll do the transfer - but it is your loss, not theirs, of any interest that might accrue in a better account.

...or just spend £14 on the card to bring the balance back to £0.

So for two years you've been getting statements with the credit balance showing and yet you haven't called back to request the amount, yet you expect them to pay you interest?

It is in their interest for you to owe them money not for them to owe you money. That is why they closed your account.

Check the t&c's, it will say you are not allowed to maintain a surplus. Some credit card co's will force you to do a balance transfer out and charge you for it. You probably got away with the surplus because it was a small amount.

As for getting interest from a credit card co... best joke i've heard on here :rotfl:
