Car Hire - USA

Visiting USA in October this year and will require a car for part of our trip. Want to collect in Atlantic City and drop in Washington DC 7 days later.
Am I better waiting till I get there or is it just as well sorting right now? Know of any particular deals/tips?
Many thanks!
Will also want a SIM (data & text would be fine as her son can call USA mobiles for free from home) Probably being lazy on that one so will do a search!

book it in advance, but may have one-way fees to consider so may be pricey...worth looking at options to see which works out the least expensive.
but booking through a UK broker will be a lot cheaper when you consider the insurance waiver side of things...will likely be far, far more expensive if you take the insurance waivers available locally.
Carhire3000 have been very good in the past for checking all options available and getting the best deal they can, including one-way fee if there's no way around it.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I second carhire3000, used them many times and always had good service.0
