BG blocking me changing supplier!!!
I registered to change supplier from British Gas to Ebico in Jan, I know the prices have changed but I am switching because of such poor service. The elec seems to be going through succesfully but they wouldnt allow gas to transfer as I owed £49.
I called and tried to pay this over the phone in Feb - first time I was cut off, second time my payment details were taken but today I've learnt the payment was not taken from my bank.
Today I've called them 3 times to try and pay this off and 3 times been cut off, have kept my cool though :A . The 4th time I called I asked for a complaints dept, and was advised a manager will call me within 24hrs, although I cant say I hold out much hope.
Luckily I'm calling from work so its not costing me money, but having to wait 15/20mins to speak to someone then having to call back has knackered me out this morn....They are doing everything to prevent me from paying and switching.
Any suggestions on what to do? The switch wont go through unless they take the payment :mad:

try calling this number 0845 607 0870 its their customer complaints/liason dept. They usually answer very quickly. You will not have to go through dippy customer service agents first!! Yippee!!!!
Rant and rave a bit but stay polite, make sure you tell them how much time and money spent trying to solve this over the phone, cheekily suggest they deduct some money from this figure to compensate you for said time and money. If you are having so many problems speaking to an advisor, why not pay through the automated telephone system, pay by internet banking, post a cheque or pay in cash at the bank or post office? I didnt have to call the complaints number - a manager called me back within an hour, I was at lunch and couldnt take the call, he said he'd call back in an hour... and did.
He was exceptionally helpful and apologetic, I would even go so far as to say embarrassed. If I was able to speak with someone who has his knowledge and ability to deal with my call in the first instance I would not be changing provider.
