Credit Rating - Room with no exit

Hi guys,

Could you please help me with my specific situation.

I have always managed my finance responsibly. Now I want to buy a house, but my credit rating is bad, because:

- I am not a citizen of EU and cannot register with electoral roll.
- I have never had any loans, credit cards, etc.
- I have been in UK for only 5 years, and do not have a long residence address and land line phone.

But

- I have never missed any payments
- I do not have any court orders
- I have never used my overdraft
- I have no outstanding payment requests, etc.

I have checked my statutory Credit Report, it has no bad records, but the credit rating is still bad, because of the other factors, mentioned above.

My bank (Halifax) is not giving me a Credit Card because of my Credit Rating (although I have two big saving accounts with them and they can see that I have enough money). I cannot even get one of those expensive Credit Cards (Capital One) because my Credit Rating is bad.

Any advice on how to start boosting my credit rating? Maybe some other ways apart from a Credit Card?

Thanks,
