Convert You Tube song to an mp3?

Is it possible to get a song which is on You Tube converted to an mp3? I don't want to download a program which can do this but is only a virus/spam etc, hence why I am asking if it is possible and if so which program can do this.

Although I selected mp3 it appears as a VLC media file (.flv), what have I done wrong?

It will show as a video file in the main window, over on the right should be the output options, choose audio, and then whichever format, click convert

Or did you already do that?

That is what I have done three times now.
