Does the Post Office Airshare work? Not for me it didn't?

I sent a cup to Sweden wrapped up to the nines in bubble wrap on special deliver Airshore (excuse my spelling) and it still managed to get broke. I was told that it would be put in a silver bag and kept away from the rest of the mail. The handle had been snapped off even through there was 'fragile' signs' all over it.
I have had things go missing when sending things to E-Bay even when they have been wrapped up well. Has anyone else had problems with Royal Mail? They charge a fortune for postage then don't deliver the service they promise.
The claims forms also don't seem to work. They take age's to replay and then you don't get anything back anyway, because they always say they can do nothing about it.
I know postmen/women work hard, I just wish the sorting office would 'sort' itself out!.

Air sure still requires adequate packing and all breakables need boxing as well as padding. You would have received compensation if the item had been properly packed.
Air sure is still sent airmail with everything else in bags, not as a 'one off' item carried as a single piece In a bag. Air sure is just a bit faster and gets a signature but basically that is all.
Have a look at the thread running about poor packaging, breakables in just bubble wrap is a disaster waiting to happen as there is nothing to prevent crushing, only chipping.
If you are not receiving compensation after making claims for loss on other goods then post the details here and we can suggest how to appeal. As long as you have the correct documentation and the item was allowable claims should be met unless the RM feel the was something odd going on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You should have put the mug in a box where it was immobile and not exposed to the vagaries of the postal service."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

seriously? The claim forms don't work?
your common sense seems lacking.
Airsure travels apart from normal mail.however I find the other Airsure packages cannot read fragile stickers
what you need to sort out is your packaging.
If they charge a fortune,then simply use a cheaper service.0 -
As others have said you needed a decent box & I would have used packing peanuts as well as loads of bubble wrap.
Or bought it it's own seat.0 -
No matter how well items are packed, accidents do happen. I send glass all round the world and occasionally, a parcel will be damaged in transit. Some months ago, a parcel sent International Recorded Signed For, arrived damaged. I submitted a claim form, correctly filled out, complete with pictures showing the damage. The whole form came back to me, because 'you have to wait 45 days to file a claim for no-receipt'. Obviously, the form went back with the words 'damaged in transit' on their letter, in very big lettering. This lead me to think that the PO are possibly using delaying tactics when dealing with claims, possibly in the hope, that the person making the claim will give up.
This theory was further endorsed by a more recent claim for SD not received. I sent the buyer the claim form with my details filled in and the buyer then completed the form and sent it with all the necessary paperwork to RM. RM then wrote to me as the buyer, asking me to complete a further form confirming non-receipt. After 2 weeks of phone-calls, and the buyer still not receiving the form, RM agreed to pay out, rather than waiting for the form, which may or not have been re-sent.
I don't know if others have experienced this.0 -

No offence meant but I recommend you understand the postal methods and systems (and possible compensation) before sending anything else as you seem a little confused.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

To be fair to the OP, she has also posted on the Community boards and said she has dyscalculia - that is, dyslexia with Maths.
eBay can be very difficult to get absolutely right even at the best of times - and OP is finding it rather trial and error as we all do.
The thing to remember, OP, is that no-one is 100% right all the time. I've made a mistake like this with packaging and had to eat the resulting neg. Do what you need to do to learn from this - and always pack items as if they were needing to be bombproof.
Sorry to say this in your presence, Custardy, but there have been anecdotal instances on the forums where RM have sold services that are not appropriate for the buyer (that is, advised people to send things back Special Delivery when recorded would be more appropriate given the value). Perhaps this is what happened here.
OP - on items that are worth £46 or less, you are insured with an ordinary proof of posting - Airsure I think is rather expensive a service for anything of that sort of value. The likelihood of something going missing is not linked to its packaging - those are two separate issues that I think you are confusing."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I don't think it is the people responding who are muddled about the service, but the OP herself. OP appeared to think that by using an upgraded service she did not have to pack securely as it would be carried especially carefully. I could send one of my glass items special delivery in a bag, but would still be refused compensation as the packaging would be deemed insufficient. To be fair to the OP, she has also posted on the Community boards and said she

Without being unfair, exactly what has that got to do with sending something poorly wrapped?
OP has her answer here and I would be extremely surprised if RM changed their mind and paid out for something badly packed. However, the thread remains useful, not to 'get at' the OP but to remind people to check the RM guidelines for packing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I don't know - I think people are being a little hard on the OP and it was trying to be rather more empathetic about the mix-ups and tell her it's a learning curve for everyone. Regarding what the OP was thinking, I was trying to give a possible explanation for that line of thought.
I know I'm partly on the autistic spectrum; it doesn't mean that I don't try to do my best as a seller, or learn from mistakes, I was just trying to reassure her that it's difficult to juggle stuff and cover all bases when selling and sometimes things go wrong.
Perhaps I misread some of the posts but I don't think I've given any different advice. She will know for next time, that's all."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
