    1: Miniature poodles.

    2: Jack Russell terriers

    3: West Highland terriers.

The above are the breeds that I avoid when out with my Labrador as I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing. " s/he doesn't like black Lab's" from the owners of those yappy mutts.

Erm, your mutt on the extended lead is barking/going for my placid Lab' .......On deaf ears:rotfl:

My next dog will be a rescue Staffie/Greyhound

One of my two reacts nervously to completely black dogs (of any breed), I keep him away from them completely. I've read that its because its harder for them to read their expressions/body language due to the eyes and nose being sort of 'hidden' by the black fur.

So its probably not completely random.

Jack russells, in my experience are extremely dangerous. Have you seen a terrier with a rat? They are designed to kill, to clamp on and shake till the target is dead. Sure, you can get some lovely ones but I've known of at least 3 human-aggressive JRT's personally, one which tore apart a woman's leg so she can no longer walk without a stick.

So the theory of 'smaller= less dangerous' is a load of rubbish.

I have a rottie and she is the most sweet loving, gentle dog I have ever kept or met.

To judge how dangerous any given dog can be - just look at the other end of it's lead

All breeds do that, terriers are just better at it. ;)

I should say, I'm a great believer in blaming the owner, not the dog. however in my experience I have come across more aggressive JRT's than any other breed, which is why I would say that breed stands out to me.

    Hello,
I'm doing my extended project for A Level and I'd really appreciate it if anybody would answer the question 'What breed of dog would you classify as dangerous?'. It'd also help greatly if you could say why you think it's dangerous or vicious.
    Thanks :)
I think any breed of dog can be dangerous, dogs can be unpredictable.

I have come across the most placid of Rottweiller, yet the most vicious of chihuahua.

A lot would depend on how they are brought up, those who's owners breed them to attack or fight I would class as inherently dangerous but cannot blame the dog so much as their owners in those circumstances.

Tell that to my dog, I'm sure he'll be won over by the strength of your argument!

(He doesn't like men dressed all in black either, so there may be something else going on, admittedly. He's a rescue dog so I don't know his past experiences.)

No, dogs are much nicer than people generally and aren't capable of prejudice.

"Clients often tell me that their aggressive dog dislikes black or dark dogs, and they cannot understand why? It is simple really; they cannot read the intent on a very black background therefore they are unable to react to the calming signals."
