Something has sat in my plant - can I save it?

I planted this bed last year late on - and these plants have taken really well
However I think something keeps sitting in it - or its fallen apart! The same plant next to it is fine and growing properly

I can't remember what I planted
:o Im seriously impressed with it though, such an easy keeper.
And its thriving, just that its crawling along the floor where the other one is like a bush and growing upwards - the base of the stems at the back are broken (hence thinking something has sat in it - I did blame the dog but its happened again and it wasn't him!
Just waste sure if I could make it go back to growing like a bush? Totally new to the whole garden thing - apart from this and nearly killing my aloe due to under watering (!!!) its all going well so far! but lots of earning and research being done!
