Restoring toshiba to factory settings

Can anyone help please....
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 model no psae4e-04100wen
which freezes during windows start up, I want to restore to factory settings to try and solve this.
I have tried holding F8 during start up for the advanced menu but there is no option like ''Repair'' or ''restore to...'' appearing (other options do but nothing like that).

I don't have the recovery cd but couldn't use one anyway since I can't get past windows starting page!

I have also tried holding 0 and holding F1 at start up cause I read about those buttons too.

Can anyone help please, i would be very grateful?

ps you will be advising a novice! :D

Thank you

According to this European models are different

It’s definitely a Toshiba European notebook model and the “pressing zero button while turning computer to get HDD recovery” will not work.
You need recovery disk in order to set the notebook back to factory settings….

As said PauPau, you need a recovery disk to restore factory setting or get Win copy disk to install. All drivers/utilities are available on driver page. If you need driver installation order we can help you. "

If you press the power button and keep tapping the F8 key, does it load if you choose safe mode or safe mode with networking?

If not, ask Toshiba to clarify what you need for the factory restore.

Thanks I've tried safe mode but the it freezes too (the blue dots stop going across on the windows load page). I did get safe mode to load once - not sure which option that was but I got a message saying I could not perform selected operations whilst in safe mode.

This model did not have a recovery partition. Recovery media (CD or DVD) was supplied with the laptop when new.

The recovery CD bypasses the normal Windows starting page.

That is normal. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode which loads the bare minimum drivers required to load the operating system. It is not designed for normal use.
How do I add a signature?

I don't have the recovery cd, I tried my windows cd but since I can only get it to load in safe mode with networking it loads to my work place network and I dont have privileges to perform certain tasks on that!

You should be loading the XP CD from boot. Anyway, you have the Recovery CD now.
