Have you paid the solicitor for the searches?

I would have expected them, if you have paid for them, to have requested searches etc and begun drafting the contracts. At the time you instructed them you did not know that the chain would fall apart thus you would have had no reason to delay matters.

Hi there yes he wanted the money for the searches upfront which the cheque was cashed within a day of me handing it to him and that was 20th March,

    Thanks for the swift reply.

    Hi,

Your solicitor cannot do the searches etc. until they have received the draft contract pack from the vendors solicitor, and it sounds like this is what they are waiting for.

Exactly the same delay has affected my purchase; as it has taken 4 weeks to locate the deeds and I have only just heard the contract pack is on its way to my solicitor!

Oh right so i could still ring him them to find out how things are going and ask him to ring vendors solictors, he did say that he was waiting for paperwork and it would probably take a while, but he also said he couldn't start to proceed until he had the formal offer letter from EA which he received back in Feb, it's all so very confusing it also doesn't help that i have NO PATIENCE :D

oops noticed mistake in last post he cashed the cheque in Feb not March

    Thank you
