Why does switching take so long

Hi, for the first two weeks after applying , the new supplier doesn't even contact your old supplier to start the process. This is a cooling off period in case you change your mind.
The fastest I have had is 4 weeks and the longest 8 weeks.
Everything normally takes around 5 weeks unless the old supplier drags their feet due to large amounts outstanding on the account.0 -
It takes 21 days from the day after your cooling off period expires as of Nov 2011.
However, the completion of your switch isn't your end date with your current supplier. The switch date will be somewhere inside the 21 days.
