    Alternatively, go into your local LA with a wad of cash in a brown envelope. Allegedly, this seems to concentrate their minds on getting you the property you want first :D

    The property shortage is set to get quite devastating over the coming years, so get used it. Your best best is to save hard for a while - either at home of house sharing - and buy your own property. If you're in London or SE, the maybe to move north where property remains cheaper. Saving so much money and a large mortgage may be quite a burden, but it'll be nothing compared to ever rising rents, possibly being evicted every year and accidental landlords reluctant to carry out repairs.

    You never know, in several years time you could retain and rent out your first property and buy another. Rental income is a close to money-for-nothing as you can get. Lots of people are doing it.
