I got fifty shades of grey to see what all the fuss is about but didn't really appeal to me..............just hope B&Q will take them all back! :rotfl:
P.S...they're about £3.12 to buy on kindle
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
Feeling like the only woman in my social circle who hasn't read them & I didn't want to buy them, so I requested the first one from the library (for free). I'm currently 577th on the waiting list!!!
This is the perfect example viral marketing working well. If the Bookseller was still the monitor of what people were going to read, this would never have got into the book charts in a million years. If people want a naughty book that is well written, then maybe someone should suggest Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita" to them, or even a vintage Jackie Collins.0 -
I downloaded them onto my phone for free using wattpad (android and apple) whilst i waited to borrow them from my friend and read three books in two days. I liked them but theyre not everyones cup of tea!Trying to fix my finances whilst living with 3 kids and 2 cats! 👩🏻👧🏻👦🏻👶🏼🐱🐱

The only reason I read them was because so many others had and I felt like I was missing out! As I said before, they're not the best written and there's a lot of repitition e.g. twitching palms, don't leave me - I won't leave you etc etc but there was a storyline that I wanted to find out the conclusion to. As I was reading the books so fast, at one stage I realised I was missing the ever changing titles & signatures in their email exchanges which quite often made me giggle. No one can make you feel inferior without your consent ~ Eleanor Roosevelt0 -
I've downloaded the audiobooks for my holidays, just to see what all the fuss is about. I'm not holding out much hope of liking them though.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

I read them a while ago before all the hype. I have to say I enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd books more because thats when an actual story/plot develops. The books are my guilty pleasure, theyre badly written/unrealistic sex scenes but I really enjoyed them all the same.:)0

Pahh too much like hard work trying to get through the first book. I love a good book but just do not understand all the hype around this one! The charity shop idea seems a good one to me because I know a few people who bought this and just can't actually get into it at all!

I'd like to post a link but it'd be too graphic. Search for Gilbert Gottfried reads fifty shades, there is a very funny video.0 -

Imagine having the job of reading them for the audio books :rotfl:I've just finished the second one, which I enjoyed much more than the first (Because of the storyline.) I can definitely understand why people don't enjoy them, but I've found them hard to put down, just because I want to see how it pans out. Certainly not a literary great....but who wants to read those all the time anyway?!Best 2018 wins: £1500, £500 John Lewis voucherBest 2019 wins: 18 of the latest DVDsBest 2020 wins: £100 cash 2021 wins: 130 books 2021 wins: Jubilee silver necklace 2023: 8xfootball shirts, Spar vouchers, £200 Tesco voucher,0
