Can they do this when there are bids?

Just looked at an auction for 2 two seater sofa's, item 320092102793

There were bids placed on the 16th and then on 17th seller added...

Please note.. I have sold one of the sofa's so you are bidding for one

Isn't that wrong and against ebay rules?

What if a bidder doesn't look at the added info and ends up only getting one sofa?

Quick answer: no they can't, if the people bid before they changed/added to the description and didn't change the auction title. I'd be reporting them...

Obviously they could have contacted the bidders to ask but surely if you bid on 2 x 2 seater sofa's you want 2? And yep, if future bidders don't read that far or 'skip' that bit it's still misleading (not wrong cos you should read everyting but still misleading).
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

the people who bid before the note was made can retract their bids due to description of item being significantly changed

i would hope that the seller contacted the bidders to let them know
  • I didn't want to BUY them!!

I have an impending house move and am looking at selling a couple of sofas. thought I'd look at how other folks listed theirs

Sometimes matching sofas are sold as seperate items and there are no guarantees that someone could be the winning bidder on both.

The question is can you start a sale for a pair and then change it to one when someone has already bidded to buy the pair?

Edit.. the responses came through as i was typing, Thank you
  • Bidding has ended on this item and the winning bidder posted her bid before the change..... if you know what I mean.

Will keep my eye on the feedback to see the outcome.
