Hi there,
I'm looking to start a saving fund for my 6 week old son.
We plan to deposit the child benefit each month.
I wondered if people could tell me which products they have choosen and why ?
I plan on investing for 18 years so i'm guessing equity would be best option or should i mix cash / equity ?
I've also love to hear from anyone further down who has been saving in shares for a period of time to hear about how shares have performed ?

The so called "£100 rule" does not apply to the JISA.
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTax...ISAs/DG_199672- you can have both cash and stocks and shares in the JISA.

I am doing somthing similar for our 4 and 2 year old. But as i want to control what they get and when, and because we will never use my wife's full isa allowance, we are doing £100 per month into a self select isa through selftrade, in my wife's name.
they charge a quarterly fee for those who are not regular traders but that does not apply to us.
so for 1.50 per month we invest the money in various blue chips with good yields.
so far picked companies like united utilities, vodafone, aviva.
was aiming for pretty stable companies with good dividends to auto reinvest. So far all pretty good but aviva is the worst performing.Karma is a wonderful thing.0
