    Hi

We have just come back from a week there and had a great time. The swimming pool is good but the best bits - slides etc - are outdoors and it was just too cold to go out and use them.

The crazy golf was good fun (£14 for a family) and my kids did Walkerwaterz where you go inside a big plastic ball on the water (£5 each for about half an hour). We also hired a family go-cart to bike round the park (£10 for an hour).

We all agreed that if the weather had been really wet all week we would have been struggling. They do run the entertainment during the day for kids, dont know if you have been to Haven before, but this has its limits.

There isnt much to do in the local area. Cleethorpes is a very typical British seaside resort. The promenade and seafront is clean and quite pretty but once you get away from there its a bit rundown.

There is a minature railway that goes almost from Thorpe Park into Cleethorpes and costs £12 for a family return ticket. You can either walk from the train station into Cleethorpes or get the land train for £1 each one way.

One of the big advantages of Thorpe Park is the lovely beach that goes for miles in either direction. Of course in March its not going to be the weather for sitting on the beach but you can get wrapped up and go for walks or looking for shells.

If you need to buy food or anything else there is a massive Tesco about 10 minutes away which sells just about anything you could want. Much better value than the shop on site.

I think Cleethorpes has its own cinema too, maybe an option for wet weather.

Pleasure Island Theme Park next door is OK, depends on the age of the kids. Maybe check the website to see if its open when you go. You can use Tesco Vouchers towards your entrance.

There is a Fishing Heritage centre in Grimsby which got good reviews but we never got that far. Might be worth looking into that.

Hope this helps. Thorpe Park is nice, hope you have a good time!

Hi although in Cleethorpes it's on the outskirts heading towards Hunstanton.

Not far from the Haven entrance is the country park and carvery pub.

There is a theme park next door called Pleasure Island (standard £20 odd entrance fee), on the same road further up there is the tropical house/zoo, all you can eat chinese buffet restaurant and boating lake/ paddling pool and huge sandpit. There is small steam train. Across you will find the Parkway cinema, various fast food outlets, a soft play centre and gym. Along the same road heading into Cleethorpes there is the communal swimming pool and beach.

Cleethorpes town is small but has all the needed shops; Boots, Wilkinsons, various newsagents. There is a 24hr Tescos but it's hard to find with a petrol station.

Grimsby is a town next door to Cleethorpes that you will pass through to get to Cleethorpes. Here you will find the large shopping centre and various large retail park stores such as B&Q, pizza Hut etc. Grimsby has a fantastic Martime museum next door to a Sainsburys and the docks are good too.

Further afield you can go up and down the coast to Mablethorpe and Skegness.
