Been Victim of fraud can I sue the original company?

There are a couple of things in the opening post that might shed some light on this.
You use the phrase " original company " , does this mean something has happened to them and the debt is now with a successor or do you mean something else.
Also you mentioned the address used was the salesman's address? How do you know that? Is it an educated guess of do you know the salesman.
Sorry it is rather confusing and complicated. I was contact by a debt recovery company on behalf of a finance company. the original company is the company selling the course. That information I had to find out myself though eventually it became clear the finance company and the company selling the courses are one in the same.
I know it's the salespersons address as I am in fact related to the saleperson which makes the whole matter 100 times more upsetting. Even more disappointed with the police as they knew this was more sensitive to me for that reason. I had no expectations on what they would do but complete silence and not returning calls is infuriating when all I would ever have wanted was to be kept up to date with what was happening. Obviously nothing has happened and they thought it easier to ignore me than just admit that.
No I dont want to sue for money but i dont want it to just disappear as if nothing ever happened. I would be surprised if I was the only person this happened too and if this is the case then yes it would raise some serious questions with the company itself. If that some how makes me a bad person as some seem to want to imply then so be it.0 -
Bit of a kick in the balls for the course company really, first their member of staff defrauds them, next they get sued by the person whos details was used.
Since you are neither the victim nor the perpetrator I suspect they wouldn't keep you updated. In the same way if you make a complaint about a rude customer service agent you won't find out of any disciplinary action despite being the subject.0 -
Have you got a letter out of the finance company/ course company saying "we agree this debt is not yours". If you have that then you are covered for future situations if it shows up on your credit record or someone is chasing you again.
Other than that all you can do is go after the salesman personally as a civil case.
The company are not going to tell you if more people are involved and they are not going to tell you about what they are doing to the salesman (unless you are required as a witness in any case).0
