central heating timer????

i have just recently bought a house with my o/h and we have been checking the boilers etc.
to my horror/suprise we cant find a timer to allow us to time our central heating to come on and off at specific times. the house is a wimpey house and is 7 years old.is this quite normal? i found this quite strange.
also the hot water boiler upstairs has a 24 hour clock dial on it where you can push in pins to set hot water to come on and off.
how do i arrange to get my central heating system fitted with a timer switch.
i am quite worried s i have a 20 month old girl and i cant imagine what it will be like to get up in the morning to a freezing cold house.

your boiler sounds like mine but it has a dial for radiators and or water. 24 hour pins are for the radiators as well as the water.

What make and model is the boiler as there should be a manual on the net for it somewhere. The only dial i've got for my central heating is for the heat setting.
  • Replace your thermostat with a programmable one - much better than messing about with the pins on the boiler.

does that mean that you have to have your heating an 24/7. or you just put it on when you need it.
god i dont think i could live like that.

    Here

I got one of those. Very easy to fit - took me about 20mins and I'm just your average DIYer. It'll allow you to programme when and at what temp you want the CH to come on.

i located a old fashioned dial thing on my boiler upstairs in my airing cupboard.which i am led too believe is the timer. on the boiler in the kitchen there is a space for you to insert a digital timer.:D
