Hi
my 18 year old daughter and her two friends are going to majorca for a week...(yikes)
we were chatting about how much they should take, they are half board...any ideas?
I know everyones different but just a general idea will do, they are saying £350 each
cheers

How much can they afford?
Holidays are like stag do's. They tend to cost exactly what you happen to have in your pocket. That's why I never take too much cash with me.0 -
depends where they are staying, if its magaluf they probably need more if they are clubbing most nights0

My 18 year old's just back from a girly holiday in Malia and they all spent around £600-700 over 10 days. They were room only, but I don't think food was what they spent their money on. They also got plenty of free and cheap drinks being a bunch of girls, but still managed to get through all that cash without any trouble.0

Should be easily enough as their accomodation and most of their food is paid for.WaxiesDargle wrote: »Hi

yes its magaluf
wdw...was that £600-700 each?0 -
When you say how much to take, will they have access to money while away, we only take about 50 euros with us, and withdraw from cash machines while away, we have recently returned from Majorca, we where half board and only spent £300 in a week well 6 nights really because of flights, but we didn't drink much, only bought a bottle frozen water during day, had burger king a few times with a voucher on the back of a map in hotel, buy one get one free, a jug of cocktail, or vodka redbull was around 12 euros 2 pints lager between 5-6 euros, think they need to take/have access to more money, as lots of young people out from 8 at night till 6 in morning, and even if only drinking water, which i very much doubt they would go through a lot more money than me and hubby did.0

On that basis £350 should be enough for a week, ie £50 per day. The PP was talking about 10 days room only, ie £60-70 per day, they'd have probably needed £10-20 for breakfast/evening meals leaving the same £50 per day as your daughter is thinking of taking.WaxiesDargle wrote: »Thanks all

On that basis their proposed budget would allow them to buy what you did plus 11 pints per night each :eek:When you say how much to take, will they have access to money while away, we only take about 50 euros with us, and withdraw from cash machines while away, we have recently returned from Majorca, we where half board and only spent £300 in a week well 6 nights really because of flights, but we didn't drink much, only bought a bottle frozen water during day, had burger king a few times with a voucher on the back of a map in hotel, buy one get one free, a jug of cocktail, or vodka redbull was around 12 euros 2 pints lager between 5-6 euros, think they need to take/have access to more money, as lots of young people out from 8 at night till 6 in morning, and even if only drinking water, which i very much doubt they would go through a lot more money than me and hubby did.0 -

Yes, each. Some took a lot more, but didn't spend it. Your daughter's £50/day is probably ok, but factor in the inevitable booze cruise at around 50 euros and who knows what else.
Like madeleine says, being out till 6am was the norm, but basic drinks were cheap and often free. I think food was basic cheap fast food, so goodness knows where the money actually went, although I think fancy looking expensive cocktails took the brunt.0 -
I came back from Magaluf last week. I feel so embarrassed to say it!
I would take more than you think for magaluf. I recommend they go to bonkers at the end of the strip, you can pick up drink there (thats strong) for 3.50 each. We got two shots, a pint of spirit and mixer with a jug of cocktail for that! The water park is 22 euros, and you need to hire a locker so will need 30+ euros for that. The banana boat ride on the beach is rubbish, don't waste 10 euro! I would recommend you have about 70 euro per day. I think its better to take more, because by the time you buy water, ice creams, drink, club entry ect, it will soon go!0
