can opener

I'm feed up of buying cheap can openers that work once and then never work again.
so have decided to splash out on one that will last.
any recommendations?

I have a Good Grips one as I have poor grip strength in my hands. I've only had it a short while, but it seems very sturdy.

Controversially, we can recommend the Kenwood electric can opener! I never would have bought one myself but it was a wedding present and is ever so reliable. We went through a few cheap regular can openers in a couple of years so it's nice to have one that is lasting and very good at its job.

My can opener is a cheapy from Tesco I think it was about 2 quid and I have had it for years.

To be honest I find that more and more cans have the ring pull opening now so I don't use it all that much

I have a disastrous history with can openers. They seem to work well at first then lose it. The best one I've come across is the Culinare from Lakeland - its strange to use at first but works a treat (but isn't dishwasher safe)

i bought the american can opener called swing-a way deluxe, its wall mounted, you just turn the handle. my last one lasted about 9 years. you can buy it for around £15, bit pricey but it lasts and you don't lose it.

Do you have a leftie in the house? I'm right handed and my ex was left, my tin openers didn't last long no matter how much i paid!
Since he left, and it's only me using one i've had the same one for the past 3 years, my oh now who is also a leftie, isn't allowed to touch it!
I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

    Total £56
