New to selling - non payment

I would be grateful for some advice. I have used ebay for years for purchases, but only sold a couple of items in that time. A few weeks ago I decided to sell some unwnated dvds, cds etc. I listed 10 items and all sold. Eight people paid promptly and I posted the items immediately. Two people still haven't paid. Both were for new and sealed dvds and decent bids. I am really disappointed.

Please can someone tell me what I should do next?

You can open a non paying bidder dispute from day 4 after the sale, then if they don't pay you can close it a further 4 days after that. This will put a strike on their account, and give you your final value fees back.

Before you do this you may want to drop them a polite message reminding them of their purchase and to let you know if there are any problems.

Once the case is closed you can then either relist the item or offer it to the second highest bidder.

Does the strike go on automatically or does the seller need to specifically request it?

I raised a NPB claim yesterday. I have not had to do one before.

Thank you both. How did I raise a NPB? I sent a polite message to both 3 days ago as I did wonder if they might be waiting for payday on Friday or involved in the Natwest problem etc.

The bidder will automatically get a strike if you close the case without payment being received & they can't leave FB.
You have to close it 4 days after opening it.
If they've a problem with payment they should have let you know.

Thank you hermum. That is really clear and easy to follow. I will give them until monday and then proceed as that seems a more than fair amount of time to wait. To be extra fair I have sent them both another email today.

Automatically, if the dispute ends without payment. The buyer can't leave feedback after a successful claim, or during it if you only offer Paypal as a payment method (to stop sellers abusing the UPI dispute in the event of payment by cheque or postal order).

Obviously if the buyer pays then they wouldn't get a strike, and eBay give them 4 days to pay during the dispute before you can close it as unpaid.

The worst thing you can do is hassle the buyer or provoke them in any way - they are more likely to pay up, reject the item at a later date and maybe leave negative feedback.

However, for an ordinary dispute, I've never had a problem and in the event of no contact or payment, would always raise one. Either I'm paid during the course of it, or they don't pay and they get a strike (about 50-50 for me, without any problems later on).
