Etiquette about maintaining gutters in a terrace

We recently moved into a mid-terrace and have a leaking gutter joint. This is our first house and we and our neighbours mostly keep ourselves to ourselves. We have a good quote to fix it and clean all the gutters front and back for the terrace of four houses.
Now obviously we need to approach our neighbours to get their permission for the cleaning to be done along the whole length of the houses, but should we expect them to contribute?
A particular sticking point is that one of the house is vacant, and the owner is rarely there so we can't easily get their permission. If we put a note through their door saying "we're getting this done on DATE, let us know if this is a problem" is that reasonable?
Thanks!

If they are down stream of you, your proposal is reasonable. If you check your deeds, you may find that they are obliged to give passage to services such as guttering. So not a lot of mileage in it for them to make a fussHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you want them to contribute, make sure you get their agreement in writing before any work starts.
Presumably you only want them to partially reimburse you for the cost of cleaning the gutters - fixing the leak is your sole responsibility.0 -
I quite like the word etiquette when used in regard to guttering. But I'm not sure that it was correct when used in this context.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Is there a major pro-rata difference between just your gutters and doing them all? I would get my done while they are up there fixing the leak, but would only mention in passing to other householders.
Even if they sign an agreement, you still have to get the money out of them if you arrange it with the company.0
