Can you do a defrag of sorts on a Macbook

my mac is quite slow, have so many pictures AND songs on there it may be the issue but a good clean on the drive would do it good, i wonder how to do this

You don't need to do a defrag unless you're using your hard drive at 90%-95% capacity.
Mac's and Linux based OS's use the hard drive in a different way than Windows,.
Basically the files are less likely to split all over the drive if you have +10% or more free disk space.
Otherwise backup everything and reinstall your OS. Then when you restore your personal files it will be doing the same job as a defrag ^_^
If you let us know the type of Mac you have it might be more of a hardware limit.
(if it's an old Mac with a new OS things can get slow without adding extra RAM or replacing the disk with an SSD drive)Laters
