Hooray - an eBay sale! 50 of the Christmas ones sold and £5 in the kitty. I've been typing like crazy this weekend and have done two 50-minute files for Journalist 4 and two shorter ones for Journalist 5. I have another two already in for Journalist 4 and she's sending me another one on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm looking forward to sending this invoice!
I've also started getting to grips with my Amazon subscription and have begun watching the Fall - |I suspect that's going to be a few late nights while I race through the first two series...0 -
Well done on the sales and the frantic typing :j:beer:Must use my stash up!0

eBay sales now up to £26 and I have 10 active listings - bit of a far cry from where I used to be, but definitely more manageable on the packing and posting front.
The last file from Journalist #4 turned up yesterday evening and she needs it back this afternoon, so I'm up early typing - it's 57 minutes and I've done 41 of them, so on the home straight now.
The Ordnance Survey map extract for my decrofting application has arrived, so I'll get Mr Minx to make a few photocopies of it on Monday (it's A3 and my scanner/photocopier isn't...) and then get the ruler and the colouring pencils out and try to come up with something that will meet the Crofting Commission's standards. I have to give a copy to the landlords, which is the Scottish Ministers, care of SGRPID (Scottish Government Rural Payments and Inspections Directorate) - despite the intimidating name, they're very friendly and once I have all the paperwork together I shall give them a ring and see if there's anyone there who can look over it to make sure I've filled everything in right before I send it off to the Crofting Commission.
Once a decrofting direction is made, I have three years to buy the land that's been decrofted from the landlord, otherwise it expires. I have no idea what it'll cost me, but given I can apply to turn the whole croft from tenancy to owner-occupied (i.e. I become the landlord) for 15 times the annual rent (about £750 in total) then I'm hoping they won't be wanting much for a tiny fraction of it. It's now only 5 months until my first 0% card expires, so ideally I need to get this submitted by the end of the month.

Great to have an update Caz. I didn't understand your comment about frogs in hats with ribs and kilter??

Bummer!
It did take me a while but I learned to rip back single stitches and fix them up the rows (crochet hook is very helpful there). It's slow, but faster than frogging entirely! My current project is tons of cables and I just had to rip back 30 rows to fix a pair of cables that were wonky and I never noticed. All better now though!0 -
FROG aka Rip it, Rip it (think ribbit!)Must use my stash up!0

Ha! Just for you, Verbatim...
I am trying to knit two inches of hat in a stitch called rib stitch, which is knit one stitch, purl one stitch all along each row (or round, since I'm knitting on circular needles). Somewhere along the line I either managed to add an extra stitch onto the needles or got distracted and knitted or purled two in a row, meaning that the rib stitch got backwards. I therefore decided to slide the knitting off the needles and pull the yarn, unravelling the whole thing, which is affectionately known as frogging (because you rip it, rip it).
Has that helped or just confused you more??0 -
