Onwards and upwards. I'm feeling pretty positive about things tonight.

Yes, well, that was the equivalent of standing on top of a mountain in a thunderstorm, wearing a suit of armour, waving a sword and shouting "All Gods are bar stewards!" wasn't it?

I have a hopping lame pony :( The farrier was working 150 miles away today and couldn't get to us, the vet said that unless it was a real emergency, they didn't have an appointment until next week - since he will move on it, albeit very slowly, and there are no lumps, bumps, cuts, heat or swellings that I can find in the leg, between us we've more or less diagnosed an abscess. I'm hot tubbing it and waiting to see what explodes. He's had my last emergency equipalazone tonight, the plan for tomorrow, if it hasn't burst, is to see where the farrier's working and if he can get to me tomorrow or Friday, and then phone the vet and see if they'll prescribe me some more painkillers (assuming this one has any effect tonight, they sometimes don't with abscesses - I'm going down again in a bit to hot tub it again and check).

Fingers crossed that it bursts ASAP, preferably overnight, or that Robbie can get to us tomorrow or that the vet will prescribe over the phone, because I really, really don't need an emergency vet call out bill right now.

In happier news, my transcription invoice has been approved for payment - £291.23 plus VAT. I had another 46 minutes of focus group today - 7,500 words to type up!

Bad news: couldn't get hold of my farrier at all today.
Good news: The vet had a cancellation and came out.
Bad news: That's two vet bills for this month.
Good news: She found the abscess, reckons it'll burst overnight, relieved some of the pressure on it and left some painkillers, so I have a much happier pony even if he isn't sound yet.

I've managed to get 52 minutes of transcription typed up today and have another 61 assigned for tomorrow, so that's £50-worth of work. Good thing, as eBay has done something to its search. No-one quite knows what, but it's not just my sales that have gone through the floor, it's most business sellers.

I've decided that from now on, 1% of everything I bank for the business is going to be budgeted again the overdraft in YNAB. It's not going to pay it off fast, but at least it's going to make a start.

Hmm. Checking in but not good news about the pony and dog bills. Ouch. But pleased you seem to know what it is at any rate.

Onwards and upwards. If EBay has changed something need to get a lobbying group together and get 'em to reverse it..this is not good news..

Look forward to reading the update tomorrow, as usual :D

I'm glad vet found the abcess, poor boy. Is this the one that was lame recently? I may have said then that they have a habit of disappearing then coming back, it's obviously found its track. Good to get it out but boo to more vets bills :(

    That is odd about eBay.

Brizzle - sorry I'm late with it!

Mfmaybe - this is actually the other one, but thank you for reminding me, because I reckon these things come in threes, so with Finn and the dog both having foot problems, I was just waiting for Merlin to go lame, but he's already had his :D

Anyway, the reason I'm running so late today is that the morning walk dog, feed horses, skip out field shelters routine was disrupted by lots of stinky pus :j:j:j Yes, the abscess blew overnight :D I managed to hang on to my breakfast whilst doing the clean-up-and-poultice job and for a virgin poulticer I seem to have done an OK job, because I can see him standing at the gate from my office window and it's still on :T I shall go and change it in a bit.

Other bits of good news, the dog's out of hours vet bill was less than half what I'd budgeted at £44.68, I've walloped my way through my 61 minutes of transcription and I should get paid for last month's transcription work on Monday or Tuesday.

In less good news, eBay sales are still down, my one outstanding March customer still hasn't coughed up despite a couple of polite reminders, so I can't do the VAT return yet and the scores on the doors, as predicted, are absolutely terrible! Those of a nervous disposition should read no further....

    Business
    Overdraft: -£-7524.26 / -£9632.64 -£2108.38

    Business total: -£7524.26 / -£9632.64 -£2108.38

    Personal
    Egg card: -£4930.00 / -£4930.00 no change
    Barclaycard: -£2225.00 / -£2225.00 no change
    Nationwide card: -£2405.00 / -£2405.00 no change

    Personal total: -£9560.00 / -£9560.00 no change

    Grand total:17,084.26 / -£19,192.64 -£2,108.38

So that's basically the last two weeks of gains wiped out on supplier bills, VAT bills, Royal Mail bills and £400 for me. Snakes and ladders isn't it?!

Now, tell me what you think, oh wise people of MSE - should I stop reporting the actual business overdraft and start reporting the pre-YNAB debt figure? The pre-YNAB debt figure is what I'm budgeting my 1%s against (plus any other spare money I can throw at it) and is a more true reflection of the debt, because it takes into account parts of the overdraft that are allocated to be spent. Now would be a good time to make the switch because the two figures are only a few hundred pounds apart and it would stop this wide swinging of numbers I get around the month end. It might make scores on the doors rather boring though :D

    Thoughts?

We picked up the last of this winter's hay order today. 30 bales and I've wheelbarrowed 14 of them down to the shed already.

I'm having a frustrating time with an eBay order at the moment. I have a regular customer in Europe who'll buy one item, doesn't pay for it straight away so a few days later I send her a payment invoice. She'll then buy another four or five and request a new total, which I send her. She'll then wait another few days, buy another few things and request a new total etc. etc. Normally this isn't a problem, we're not talking huge amounts of money, but she's done it over my year end, so half the sales belong in the 13/14 year and until she pays up and the sale gets processed onto my accounts system, I can't apply for my VAT refund :(:(:( She requested another total yesterday evening and I sent the invoice within 5 minutes, hoping she'd still be online, but she still hasn't paid up.

I could really use the cash, to be honest. I've only managed to pay myself £400 so far this month. I should have the transcription money early next week, but it's looking like it's going to be a very expensive month horse-wise. Not the vet visit, if I'm lucky they'll put that on my account and I won't have to pay for it until May, but I've spent £90 on the hay today, I'm going to need some more Protexin Acid Ease and they've changed the formula to a powder, so it comes in smaller tubs and will last a little bit longer but is more expensive - not sure what my local tack shop will be charging, but it'll be around £72. He's also going to run out of his other gastric supplement, which I was planning to stop, but I don't want to change two things so close together, so I'm going to have to order another 3 months' worth (the minimum), that's £110. Then to top it all off, I went to fill up the bucket I use to keep the micronised linseed in and emptied the last out of the sack into it, so that's going to be another £27.

Horses, eh? It's a good thing that they're both being particularly lovely at the moment. I think I'm going to be on the £10 coach seat going to visit mum and my cousin though!

Oh that doesn't seem right Caz..think you need to email this customer who buys in dribs and drabs and tell them what your new process is (and outline whatever you need it to be)....you need to be paid for the items promptly and this timing with the VAT is horrid. With EBay can you refuse to issue a new aggregated invoice and still keep the old one in play?

Re the scores..I think it's up to you..what makes you feel more positive and focused?

    Have a good day

Or tell them that they need to pay as you have to close your year end accounts down and that in future there will be no changes to an invoice and if she wants more stuff it will be another sale!
    Must use my stash up!
