Just saw this item in MSE news on the main page and thought of you.
700,000 Barclaycard customers with a cashback credit card will be moved to a new deal in May – but it may leave some, particularly those who used to have Egg cards – worse off.
I seem to remember you have the CFKAE.
June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15
Official mortgage end date August 2027
Current rate 2.59% until August 20200 -
Thanks Hillside
The Barclaycard-that-was-an-Egg isn't one that gets cashback, but the other Barclaycard does, so I shall see what happens. I know a couple of friends have had letters informing them of the changes, but nothing here so far, so maybe I'm unaffected.
I really have nothing to report at all today because I've spent it dozing on the sofa
Poor Mr Minx had to go and do the shopping all by himself
I'm feeling better though - my throat still feels raw, but my head is much clearer and I think another day of taking it easy will see me right. 0 -
All I've done today is feed and muck out the horses (twice) and put a load of laundry through. The rest of the day has been spent resting (and watching Mr Minx's blood pressure go through the roof supporting his beloved Aberdeen in the cup final!) and I think I'm finally getting on top of this dratted lurgy. I've still got a bit of a sore throat and my lungs hurt from all the coughing, but I'm about a million times better than I was on Friday night.0

The new week has brought some good news - £455 banked this morning, £190 currently in PayPal and £28 in transit from a credit card payment, so I've already exceeded the whole of last week's takings

It's now over a month since the courier left the mystery box with us and since I've heard absolutely nothing from them in response to my email, I'm assuming ownership of the contents. I need to check the new legislation regarding sending perfume through the post though - I *think* that I'm OK if they go through the business account with the correct stickers on the outside. I'll ask James at the post office tomorrow. That said, I'm actually leaning towards donating the box to charity, it still doesn't feel quite right to sell them and pocket the cash

I had a really down day yesterday
My lovely neighbours have moved out and I so miss having someone to wave to in the morning. Even if we didn't stop for a chat, it was at least some sort of human contact, which isn't something I get very much of on a day-to-day basis when Mr Minx is at work. On top of that, the transcription file I was assigned was very, very echo-y and took me the whole day to type up and I'm still trying to cough up a lung on a regular basis. So when Mr Minx got home, I promptly sobbed all over him - good man that he is, he still gave me a hug even though he was in his work suit and I was in a manure-covered Puffa jacket :rotfl:
I'm feeling a bit better today. Bills are covered to the end of the month (including the supplier payment) and I have £160 towards that monster postage bill already. The farrier came to trim the boys, which should have been £40. He normally only takes £30 off me, today he refused to take any more than £20 on the grounds that 'I had hardly anything to do and it's a pleasure to come somewhere that the horses are so well behaved, so well looked after and so loved.'
Bless him, that really cheered me up. Finn was a superstar today, actually - even though he's got a lot better about having his feet done since he arrived here, there's always been a little bit of nervous tap dancing, but today he just lowered his head and let me scratch him behind the ears while the farrier got on with it. 0 -
Friday scores on the doors and we're heading back in the right direction.
Business
Overdraft: -£-9424.97 / -£8307.52 +£1117.45
Business total: -£9424.97 / -£8307.52 +£1117.45
Personal
Egg card: -£4930.00 / -£4930.00 no change
Barclaycard: -£2260.00 / -£2225.00 +£35.00
Nationwide card: -£2430.00 / -£2430.00 no change
Personal total: -£9620.00 / -£9585.00 +£35.00
Grand total: -£19,044.97 / -£17,895.52 +£1152.45
The only cloud on the horizon is that I have less money towards next month's business bills than I thought I did, as the quarterly interest on the overdraft comes out next Friday (£126.28) and the quarterly bill for the business broadband is going to be due in the first week of April (£100.30). I've had a calculator-bashing session with the cash flow forecasts for the business and the personal accounts and as long as I can make enough to cover the postage bill and pay myself £200 then I should survive until the VAT refund comes through.
