EDFenergy are not lowering prices
Options
I asked my supplier, EDF, if they were going to reduce their prices. This is their reply:
"Dear Mr ***
Thank you for your e mail.
As you may already be aware, British Gas, N Power and Powergen have announced intentions of reducing their gas and electricity prices.
N Power and British Gas’ prices were both very high prior to their announcements therefore
the decrease brings them in line with other suppliers.
Taking these changes into consideration EDF Energy are still very competitive, also offering a wide range of other benefits including free phone, nectar points, priority services for our most vulnerable customers, dedicated UK call centres and a free energy efficiency helpline to name but a few.
EDF Energy’s price increases in the past were kept to a minimum in our continuing effort to offer the best value and service possible.
I trust you will continue to enjoy our services as a valued customer and we will endeavour to remain competitive and to prove EDF Energy is the choice for you.
We are still cheaper than our competitors in many areas and we have award winning Customer Service.
EDF Energy pricing is constantly under review, however, as of today no announcements have been made to reduce energy costs to either new or existing customers.
If you have any questions or would just like to talk about our services please call us on 0800 096 9000.
Once again, thank you for contacting us.

Prices are always under review to remain competitive hence the product enforced to undercut B/Gas.
People remember EDF are in a very competitive situation, if you don't ask for a better price you won't get one. So phone them up and save money :j
Hi all,
Martin is advising to hangout and wait to see if EDF Energy and Scottish Power drop their prices before making any rash decision on switching energy providers. However EDF Energy have effectively reduced it's rates to undercut British gas though it's not being advertised.
It's more of a product offer open to the first 350,000 customers. The deal is they are offering a reduction on core rates, works out to around a 16% reduction on the Gas and 6% on the Electricity which is capped without any premium until September 2008. Offer applies to Dual Fuel and electricity only customers, pre-payment are eligible too! Basically EDF are offering March 2006 prices which look very competitive. This is not an official price drop but this is a product offer to ensure they keep undercutting British Gas, like they have done for the last 18 months!!
This also applies to existing electricity and dual fuel customers, however you will have to phone up and ask for it.

Is it possible as a Dual Fuel customer to just get one of the prices reduced as the other is already lower than their offer?Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -
EDF standard customers will have on average the UK's most expensive gas tariff from April the 30th for their customers. Switch away, no doubt they will call you and offer you the tariff mentioned above0

Yippee! I called them and my prices are already lower than their "Price Saver until Sept 2008"! :beer:Reclaimed thanks to this site:

I'm getting angry with EDF - no word from them on electricity and gas price cuts - the sensible advice is to wait awhile longer before switching and this is clearly logical but what if EDF has not reduced their prices by the end of April?0

I'm happy with EDF, I joined up to SWEB March 2005 to their online via comparison site tariff, they have always been the cheapest, and even now if we were to switch away to the current cheapest for new customers we would be a huge sum worse off.
None of the comparison sites for the last 8 / 9 months have even listed the tariffs / rates we are still getting, they are listing later revisions which have higher rates than the actual rate we are paying.
I can choose one of the SWEB / EDF online tariffs for a quick quote on the competition, but have to ignore the savings they advertise (though they still say we would be £60 worse off if we switched away, even with the wrong higher rate chosen) and then work out the difference ourselves because the rates we pay are even lower.
I know there are many others in the same situation, we moved to the right tarrif / company at the right time. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

I just phoned up and got this deal after reading this, thanks.
I was on dual fuel and it's a good saving on those rates.
