Late Payment Questions?

I never I mean never miss my payments, but this month I did.

Payment had to be on my barclaycard by 16th march, forgot oops. Called and told them I didn't get my statement and she said that they would only charge me £6 instead of £12 for the late fee, great. But big question. I have just paid the full balance off including the £6 late fee by bacs, will this affect my credit rating? and if so how long?, the lady on the phone said wouldn't affect me, but im not sure.
Kind Regards
Bill

If you worrry about your credit rating, you can join the creditexpert. They are the internet operation of Experian. Experian is one of the two biggest credit rating provider in the UK>

https://www.creditexpert.co.uk offers free 30 days trial. To join is very easy and just need to wait for the PIN coming though the post to confirm your address.

But you need to wait for some time to get the free trial, because this month's payment record would be updated as quick as you think.

Wait some times, and join the crediexpert to see how it would be effect you.

its possible that it may be recorded on your file as a late payment however if its just a one off them it prob wont do any harm to your rating tbh

I believe that late payments are not recorded, only missed payments.

If you can, set up a direct debit so that you don't get hit again. It takes about a mopnth for your credit file to be updated, so you can check then if you wish.

Agree, late payments do not show up, it is only if its MORE than 30 days late then it is shown as a missed payment which would affect your credit rating.

I'm not sure where you get the 30 days from, i was led to believe that it WILL show on your credit file, if the payment has not been received by the time your next statement goes out, which is normally 4 or 5 days after the due date.

I missed my payment last year by 1 day and Lloyds said it would not be reported to the reference agencies. Also they agreed to refund half the fee.

I know that HBOS will not report to the CRA's within 5 days of the bill date being missed. After this, they will.
