Cheap hotels and where to search

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else.

Does anyone know of a website for UK hotels that is really cheap? I've looked at lastminute.com and late rooms and I don't find them cheap at all. I'm sending myself potty looking. I was told on Tuesday to look for something this Saturday and I can't find anything, unless I want to pay a ridiculous price.

I've also put in searched for hotels by using the place name and then accommodation. As you can appreciate this is taking a long time, so does anyone know of websites that deal with the smaller, independent hotels/B&B's that aren't on the major, well known sites.

Really I should have asked this question on here a few days earlier as I don't think I'll be able to find anything and I don't know when the next opportunity will be to get away for the day.

Many thanks

Does nobody know? I'm still looking and I'm really struggling to find anything as there is just so much information and what you read on one page is on another 100, so I'm wasting lots of time. Yes I've been looking at 100's of pages, but I could really do with a bit of help with this one.

Agree I'venever found a great deal with lastminute (but I know others who have). I've had some success with https://www.laterooms.com, https://www.hotel.com and https://www.expedia.co.uk.

Obviously there's also Travleodge, Holiday Inn and Premier Inn. If you could say where you want to go and waht your budget is that might be helpful.
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

Thank for the reply unsure. I've used all the websites that you've put and had no luck whatsoever. Annoyingly I know that there's loads of little b&bs that aren't on the major websites but finding them is something else.

I didn't put which area I'm looking at as I was really just wanting a website that would provide all the information I want. The area I'm looking for is the North West of England.

smoothhound.co.uk - cheapest I've seen... singles from 15-20 off peak, although as it's now peak season it's tough trying to find one that's under £400 for a week to be honest.... but I was looking in Cornwall.

laterooms lastminute booking.com etc all have same rates as hotels themselves (or should have if hotels have kept them up to date)

they all have rate parity agreements with hoteliers so cannot undercut each other.

Booking angels is ok for b and b's.
I went off smoothhound when the prices hadn't been updated in ages or places were no longer running - found them a bit out of date.

Alternatively if you know the area you want to go to, try the local links in the area/town tourist information websites.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Tourist info centres have a really good b&b booking service. I've used them when touring a bit. Leaving one town, and booking ahead for the next. Pot luck, to some extent, but could be worth a try. Tell them where you are going, and they will search for you and come up with suggestions, if you like one, book it, job done.

    How cheap is 'cheap' though?

We paid £35 for a night for 4 in the Holiday Inn with breakfast. That is cheap enough for me!! http://greenroom.co.uk/alumni

Link still seems to be working. 53% off or 2 for the price of 1.
