I have advertised on homeswapper and have found an exchange, we have submitted the forms to council and are waiting a reply. I am just wondering if i need a reason other than being closer to family and needing overnight care from time to time to go from 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom?

I think you used to be allowed to go one bedroom up or down in a council home, but maybe (nowadays) it depends on the coucil due to lack of social housing, especially in big cities. Also please bear in mind the new housing benefit rules which means that you wont be able to claim for the extra bedroom, if you need in the future or are claiming HB.0
