Why is insurance soo high for me compared to others? (£4K!!!)

 Im gonna have a moan on here because all day I have been getting quotes from oneysupermarket, confused and have gone to direct companies to get quotes.

I used several different cars but not once did I get my insurance lower than £2k, on average £3.5-£4.5k - Thats like 10 times my car value.

Nissan Almera Equation 1.4 is the car I want.

I dont want a Micra, Ford Fiesta/Focus, Skoda.

Something decent, I know a few fellow students who got insurance from as little as £400...and guess who from? TESCO (They quoted me on a similar car £3k!!)

Yes, Im 17, I live in Central London and havnt yet passed but going to be a new driver so high risk but never thought it would be that high!

I checked out insurance groups and nothing in group 1-3 interest me at all. I sthere anywhere else I can look? Im prepared to pay £1500 max.

Who are brokers? How do I contact them? Yellow pages?

Sorry for this I just felt I had to let it out, really anooyed!

Advice appreciated,

-MoE-

    Lets list why:-

    Age
    Male
    Central London
    New Driver
    No NCB
And want Group 4 or greater.

To get it cheaper you need to move to a better area, have a sex change, add 10 years to your age and buy a reasonably small car.

My daughter was £800 this year so you are on a hiding to nothing.

Just buy ther car that gives you cheap insurance for the first year or two. If you go for ultra light cars like 106s etc you can have a lot of fun even with 998cc engines.

Try elephant.co.uk they have always been cheap for me and people I know. :) 4k is madness for 1.4!!!

Make sure you put a parent on your licence preferably a lady it brings it down loads. :)

You should either pass your test first or include yourself in as a 2nd driver on a relative's name, ie parent. This will reduce you insurance so much, obviously you will not get ncd but could reduce your insurance by half.

That's fronting and it's FRAUD. OP has been told that on another thread.

Putting the parent on as a second driver can reduce the price considerably though, and is fine. :)

I agree with brazilianwax on this, the insurance companies have become wise to people "pretending" that their parents were the main drivers,to obtain cheap insurance.

The point is you would not be covered ,if they discovered what you were doing.By all means include a parent on the policy to lower the premium, that is a different thing completely.
