How long to wait for payment?

I've just fired off a NPB after the minimum 4 days.
Immediately, I was prompted with the option to set up an automatic unpaid item assistant. It seems to make life easier and I like the idea that it prevents a non-payer leaving negative feedback.
Are there any downsides to using the automatic unpaid item process?
And if I stick with manual and the NPB leaves a big fat negative without paying, can't I get it removed?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

It doesn't matter whether or not you use the auto thingy, if a buyer doesn't pay and the dispute is closed then feedback cannot be left.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Additionally, if you only offer Paypal as a payment option, while the dispute is open neither you nor the buyer can leave feedback - so it's well worth opening a case without contact."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

i sold something nearly two weeks ago, contacted the buyer after a few days politley asking when payment would be made and was told she was having issues with her natwest account, fine fair enough.
I then sent another message on yesterday because as far as i am aware all the problems have been sorted. Going to give it till wednesday and then open a dispute.
What happens with a dispute though - do ebay make them pay or is it just a formal way of cancelling the sale??2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32
Grocery challange April: £130.17of £500 target remaining0
