Autoplay when computer wakes up.

I have a new computer and I let it go to sleep when it detects that I have gone away.

I have an external hard drive permanantly connected to it, cable round the back and I can't reach it to unplug it and why should I anyway.

When the computer boots from being off, not napping, I turn the power off every night, there is no autoplay notification about the external hard drive but when I wake it up there is.

I have been through all the autoplay options but I cannot get it to stop doing this and yet my old computer never did it.

Any suggestions or do I have to live with it?
