Anything that stops people eating in cinemas has got to be good news. The first hour of every film is silenced by incessant munching of popcorn and crisps (yes, they even take crisps in now) accompanied by the sound of slurping a near-empty bucket of Coke through an oversized straw.
What happened to the hot dog before you went in ("an hour from now you'll wish you'd had one") (price 1/6) and the tub of vanilla ice-cream (10d) and carton of Kia-Ora (9d) during the interval?
My local Vue cinema sells nachos in the food area. I don't know how anyone is supposed to eat a tray of nachos silently! They also sell jumbo-sized bags of sweets. Ideal for rustling.
I can't say I agree with you though, I have never had a problem with noise when I have been to the cinema, other than that of people talking or mobiles going off!
I always take food with me. Usually I take fruit and water but sometimes sweets for the children. If I couldn't take food in with me I wouldn't go, the prices are so extortionate. My friend used to work for UCI and she told me that the film tickets cover costs but the profit comes from food sales. From the prices I can believe it.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

If I have to hand my bag in - I won't go there
I won't let anyone check my bag when shopping, and even hate security checks at the airport but have to if they want to.
Elsewhere - they can goto hell!!An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
These have to be one of the biggest rip offs there is and no doubt how they make their money. I always tell my kids I will buy sweets elsewhere. The prices at Vue and odeon for sweets and drinks are obscene. If they brought in a rule like this I would go elsewhere too.0

About 3 years ago I saw someone have their bags searched and taken off them in Cineworld Bishops Stortford because they had food in it and they tried to check my bag and I said no, it was full of stuff for the kids (it was a quiet time) and I have not been there since. I now go over to Stevenage cos they are more lenient and don't check - although I get the munch box anyway - £2.20 for a drink, popcorn, chocolate and a little extra (toy or tickets to Sea Life, etc....) Bargain!!0

.
I know! My local Vue sells these and it is SO annoying. Also selling slush puppies, which are just designed for kids to go 'scchhuuuurrrp' in your ear! I have stopped going to the cinema at weekends as I always get some selfish !!!!!! rustling away.
I do go on Wednesday's though with Orange 2-4-1 - saves £7.50 per time. :jFor everything else, there's MSE :T0 -
If you are stopped tell them that you are a diabetic!US housing: it's not a bubble

Vote with your feet, don't go there.
I wouldn't allow them to search me for food (whether I had any or not).
They're not big on customer relations then?0 -
I too, have a cineworld unlimited card - but have never had my bag searched? All they have in my cinema is a big sign saying no food that has not been purchased on the premises.
I might have to bring a bag of grapes with me next time, and see what they say about me wanting healthy food.0 -
Don't wish to sound rude ..... but can't people last the duration of a max 3 hr film without needing to take in food or drink??? Is there something about movie watching that drains every last bit of nutrient from humans and means it is essential to have sustenance on hand?
Just wondered ! My family lasts the duration without the need for feeding (we're all past the 2/3/4 hourly feeding stage) - we go to the cinema to watch a film - no eating required!
Bah humbug
In principle I agree - if these places can't be bothered to provide affordable, healthy food then they should allow people to bring their own - they should see it as their challenge to provide the type and value of food that makes people want to buy it rather than bringing their own.0
