Sorry. Due to the confusion of the thread hijacker creating two subjects being discussed at the same time, I will say my post was in relation to the non-disclosure/fraudulent application that got caught.
I have more sympathy with the auto licence situation. Although, it is not a full licence and if that was selected then it was wrong.I don't understand why he should be asked to pay more. Does an automatic licence increase risk?
I don't know. I think it would be harsh but then again, someone that cant pass the test on a full licence and only half licence is probably a higher risk.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It is a different outcome.
No, it's a pass or fail, for the vehicle you intend to drive. Or by your arguement, should insurance be cheaper if you have a hgv licence, as they're harder to drive than a car? Or dearer if you drive a motorbike, as they have more accidents, so any driver must be a higher risk, even in their car?0 -

It is not a full licence and its not comparable to HGV. It is licence "lite". As I said, I dont know why and was taking a guess as to why it may be viewed as higher risk.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You'll have to link through to that, I've only ever seen full or provisional, and the only variations on full are the category, either B or B auto. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/motoring/driverlicensing/whatcanyoudriveandyourobligations/dg_40225470 -
As an aside, I would be challenging any loading on automatic licences if I was disabled and couldn't use the clutch, as it could well be discrimination, unless the company has very good proof that disabled drivers that had to take the test in automatics are a worse risk than non disabled.0

I thought disability discrimination was the same as gender, ie they can't load based on population statistics, only on individual statistics ie history.
That being the case there is possibly an argument that any loading on auto licences is indirectly discriminatory as disabled people are over represented in that group0 -

They can load for disability providing their own date shows the increased risk.0 -
