Life Assurance Policy Not Paying Bonus

I've a Life Assurance Policy I've been paying about £20 into every month (it was started n my name and I took over the payments when I got a job).

It never pays a bonus (hasn't for about 5+ years) and I should be doing better. It's been moved from Winterthur to Zurich to Friends Life. I've plenty of life insurance via my work. It's a direct debit and I keep forgetting its there; never had time to investigate it properly and look for alternatives. I've paid over £6k into it and it earned bonuses ages ago making it about £10k.

It matures in 2024 and I feel I'm dropping money into a bottomless pit and money's tight enough as it is!
What happens if I stop paying into it? Can I get the money out early?
