Any inspirational ebay books worth a read??

Good Evening All,

Been getting into ebay and really enjoying the excitement of doing a good sale.

Ive recently read the first book by Robert Pugh (i believe he trades a Mollybol on ebay) - and i thought it was very motivational - now i know the book is a few years old now so i wondered if there are any other good ebay books out there worth reading???

    Not really.

Things move very fast - most will be out of date by the time they come out, and many are unaware about the finer points of the law or suggest really stupid short-cuts that are exploiting eBay systems or loopholes in the law. The best resources for sellers out there are forums, particularly the official forums (buyers' and sellers' - I'd always encourage people to read the buyers' forums particularly, see what they talk about most and learn from their experiences as well as staying within the seller communities) and this one.

Also, no-one who regularly trades on eBay is going to give away trade secrets. It would be a bit like Coke posting their recipes online.

Best advice is to know your buyers....so depends what your selling really.

If you are a complete beginner books are OK to get to grips with some of the basics of selling, bidding, Paypal etc. Years ago (2005) I read a book by Dan Wilson published by Ebay which was quite good. He boasted quite a lot about how he made a fortune on selling collectable comics which is a bit irritating but he is English and has a LSE degree so there is not much of the American motivational-speak that you expect in these books.

As others have said if you are looking for books that will give away secrets of how to make a fortune on Ebay then forget it.

A book published in 2005 will be no use now.

Don't waste your time reading books; spend it researching your market and possible suppliers.
