Hi,

just set up with Sky internet. Got the desktop connected easily but struggling with the laptop.

Wireless is switched on, it's found the correct network, ive entered the password and it says connected.

However I can't connect to internet. There is a little yellow exclamation mark/error icon over the wireless icon in the toolbar.

I'm on windows 7.
Diagnostics shows
Windows cant communicate with the device or resource (primaryDNSserver)
The Diagnostics policy is not running

Any advice?

Thanks

Click on the icon. Click Open Network and Sharing Center. If you see an icon of a park bench and the words Public Network under View your Active Networks, click where it says Public Network and change this to Home.
How do I add a signature?

Go back to Network and Sharing Center. Click the link for your wireless connection under 'Connect or Disconnect' (just under 'Homegroup')

Click Details button. You'll see a load of details similar to that shown in the code box below.

Click once anywhere on the text. hold down the CTRL key and press C (you won't see anything happen) come back here, click inside the box to type a reply. Hold down CTRL and press V

Seems fixed, followed this guys advice

    .................
    Hi,

This issue can occur by incorrect DNS settings. I suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

    1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
    2. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties".
    3. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties".

    4. In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.222.222

    5. Click 'OK' twice to complete the modification.

If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.220.220.

Meanwhile, I would appreciate your help in clarifying that if the network is based on a router or a DSL modem. If there is a router, please bypass it and connect to DSL modem directly for a test.

    Thanks,
    Novak
