If a train operating company fails to provide an advertised service in the evening due to their own fault in not having enough staff to operate the service (which they have admitted)and meaning over a hours wait for another service do i have a case for any refund compensation etc. This happened not in a way side station but in a main line station in manchester

Yes, just put all the details of the cancelled service and how long you were delayed for/the next service to your destination on the delay repay form and send form in with your tickets to the relevant Train Company .

The amount of compensation will depend on the length of delay and varies from Train Company to Train Company.
