£500 a year for gas and electric would be cheap and £1000 would be expensive. If the house is well insulated and you are out most of the day can be done for £500 or less.
If all electric more expensive.0 -

Discounts are available for Dual Fuel and Direct Debit monthly payments, tho EBICO (you will need to google for this) offer simple bills, no discounts and cheap rates.
Energyhelpline is a comparison site that covers all tariffs, tho you will need to feed in estimated usage and postcode. There is an average user kilowatt hours p.a. but have forgotten, will be up there in the stickies.
Green tariffs are an option, but more expensive.
Usual practice is to register with the present provider of gas and electric and change later.0
