Selling on ebay.de

I would love to take my items to German buyers - I already have some loyal customers there and would like to expand...
What is the best way to do it? Should I test the water by listing items on ebay.de to start of with, and if it goes well think about opening a shop?

One thing to bear in mind is that German buyers use like to use bank transfer. eBay also have an 'e-wallet' system on the .de site (buyers pay eBay, eBay pays out to sellers under certain conditions; I guess it is like the Amazon payments system) to allow buyers to pay electronically and for them to be able, I assume, to police sellers in a country where Paypal take-up is not great.

Also, there is a rule whereby if you list on a particular site, you should be able to cope with questions in that native language. So you probably need to make sure your German is up to snuff.

You may already know this, but every ebay site has slightly different rules, in terms of returns, pictures, markdowns, duplicate listings, feedback/stars (e.g. automatic 5 stars for comms), trs if applicable etc.
Also buyer/seller protection may work differently.

I am not wanting to find out what you are selling, but I am intrigued about selling in Germany. I have worked there and know a little about the people and a little of the language. Do you see it as an especially good place to sell at the minute as opposed to say France or Poland, or is it just down to present contacts in Germany?

My items are very popular in Germany - I send more to Germany than any other European country. I think that there is a gap in the market there for the particular line I sell... But I just don't know how to go about it!
